Bettina Drew

Bettina Drew ( is Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Missouri, Columbia. She holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from YaleUniversity and is currently writing a biography of Andrew Jackson to be published by Yale University Press in 2004. The recipient of a Fellowship in Non-Fiction Literature from the New York Foundation for the Arts, she is the author of a literary biography, Nelson Algren: A Life on the Wild Side(Putnam, 1989), and a collection of essays, Crossing the Expendable Landscape (Graywolf, 1998), both of which received special Citations from PEN.
