Julia Fein

I begin studying Russian while in college at Middlebury and during the summers at Middlebury's summer language school, and I spent my junior year in Irkutsk. After completing my BA in History and Russian, I entered graduate school at the University of Chicago, where I am working towards a PhD in modern Russian history. My dissertation is on museums and urban life in Siberia between the 1880s and the Second World War. The Fulbright grant will allow me to conduct archival research in state and museum archives in Siberian cities, including Krasnoyarsk, Minusinsk, Irkutsk, and Tobol'sk.
