David Hunter Smith
I began studying Russian at Middlebury College as an undergraduate. My choice of Russian among other languages was guided mostly by chance but eventually Russian developed into one of my two major subjects - along with philosophy. I assisted the Middlebury College summer Russian School in 2002 and studied in Irkutsk and Moscow in the fall of 2002 and spring
of 2003, respectively. I also worked and wrote articles for the socio-political commentary site globalrus.ru, which is based in Moscow.
I have worked on the translations of a some Russian-language films and also have some experience in other forms of written translation as well as in consecutive interpretation. My senior work in Russian involved a thesis on Viktor Pelevin. In 2004, I graduated as valedictorian of Middlebury College. In the summer of 2004, I worked at the Middlebury College French School.
