Marion Love

Marion Love received her Ph.D. in Theatre Arts from the Ohio State University. For many years she taught as well as administered arts programs at Lenoir-RhyneCollege, a small Lutheran institution located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina.

Most recently Love has coordinated the Teacher Licensure Program in ESL (English as a Second Language) with a special emphasis on the use of creative drama in language instruction. This past academic year, Love served as director for a $1.9 million dollar project funded by the US Department of Education to provide professional development for K-12 teachers and teacher assistants who work with English Language Learners.

Although this will be her sixth trip to Russia, it will be her longest stay. Love, who first visited Russia with a Theatre Arts delegation in 1990, will continue work with colleagues at MoscowInternationalUniversity conducting seminars in the use of theatre methodologies for language classrooms. In addition she will collaborate with students and faculty in the development of a small theatre company.

An active member of Rotary International, Love and her husband, retired journalist Keith Wood, hope to meet with other Rotarians while in Russia. They both enjoy hiking, take pleasure in fly-fishing (or any other kind) and, above all, conversations with friends around the dinner table.
