Usmanov Nail

Born in 1957. Historian. Graduated from the Bashkir State Pedagogical University in Ufa. Worked as a teacher at a secondry school then at the Pedagogical Institute in Birsk. Kandydatskaya degree (Ph.D. in History). Since 2001 Dean of the History Department of the Birsk State Pedagogical Institute. The area of professional interests - national policy in Soviet Russia in 20-30th of the XX century. Since 1996 has been studying the work of the foreign organizations that aided the starving people in the Soutern Urals in 1921-1923. The author of the monograph "The Activity of the American Relief Administration in Bashkiria in the Famine of 1921-1923" (Birsk, 2004). Has participated in conferences in Moscow, Kazan, Ufa etc. Awarded with the honorable medal of the Russian society of historians-archivists. The project "The Activity of the American Relief Administration in the Southern Urals" implies the study of American documents and litterature on the topic and publishing books and articles about that neglected period of Russian-american relations.
