Dr. Steve Reames

Dr. Steve Reames has taught in higher education since 1989 at the University of North Texas, Sam Houston State University, University of Maryland, University of Houston, and numerous community colleges in Texas. His teaching and research has taken him to Japan, Turkey, and Russia. He is currently Director of the Russian Studies Program-Angelo State University, San Angelo, Texas.

His research interest is centric to the environmental impact on society and global information interchange. The mediums used for his research are extensive but not limited to the use of geographic information systems (GIS). His current grant, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Corp of Engineers takes him to both the Mexico border and West Texas Plains to determine the impact of water shed. Steve’s business experience spans three decades within corporate America inclusive of AT&T, Southwestern Bell Communications, and IBM. He is the founder of two corporations; one in private network-auditing and the other in data communication maintenance.

He was conferred as a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of North Texas and holds a masters degree inclusive of Business Information Systems, Computer Education and Cognitive Systems, and Counselor Education from the same institution. He has earned two other undergraduate degrees; one in computer science and the other in the visual arts. He teaches and specializes in management information system design, data communications, network design, emerging global technology, and conducts research in each area at Angelo State University, San Angelo, Texas.

Dr. Reames will be working with the Kuban State University faculty in Krasnodar, Russia and Angelo State University, San Angelo in the development and teaching of two simultaneous technology courses. This experiment will be in real time with the interchange of ideas with both the Russian and American student.

Dr, Reames is the Past President of the Association for Computer Educators of Texas, serves on several community boards in the city of San Angelo, Texas and is active in the Kairos Prison Ministry International serving as Vice Chair-2006 for Kairos of Texas and as a national trainer. He is married to Tatiana (Russian by birth), has two daughters both named Sasha, and a grandson, Stormy. He resides in San Angelo, Texas.
