Amanda Schneider

In 2002 I graduated from Swarthmore College with a major in Biology. I concentrated in plant biology, and completed a field study in the Pocono heath barrens of PA as part of the research for my senior honors thesis in plant ecology.

During my Fulbright year in Russia I hope to work in a laboratory in the field of plant biology or ecology. I am excited to explore a new topic of study and to meet Russian scientists and students. In addition to furthering my research experience and knowlege of biology, I hope to learn about how Russian scientists feel about their position in society, their responsibility to the environment, and the importance of science education. I'm also hoping to make some good Russian friends, spend time with families, and pursue my interests in music and outdoor sports.
