Michael van Landingham

Michael E. van Landingham is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He started learning Russian in his senior year of high school and continued it at Princeton University, where he majored in Slavic Languages and Literatures and received certificates in Russian and Eurasian Studies and French Language and Culture. Thanks to the Fulbright program, Michael is currently affiliated with the Sociology Department at the Higher School of Economics in Saint Petersburg, Russia. After his Fulbright year, Michael will matriculate to Harvard University as a Master's candidate at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies. Michael's primary interests include the society of the late Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact countries, Soviet and American relations with Afghanistan, and contemporary Russia.
