Olga Povarnitsina

My name is Olga S. Povarnitsyna. In 2001 I received my B.A. in Sociology from Udmurt State University in Izhevsk, Russia. Currently I am enrolled at the M.A. program in Sociology at Temple University, Philadelphia. I am particularly interested in the sociology of gender, so my graduate project is focused on the female body, sexuality, representation of women in the mass media, and differences among and between women. Study in U.S. with the Fulbright Program allows me to be exposed to a diverse body of writing that makes up American gender theory and examine the ways in which feminism had addressed such a key issue as female sexuality. My future intention is to pursue my career in academics both as a teacher and researcher. I consider the academic training I currently receive at Temple University Graduate School to be the groundwork for my Ph.D. project
