In 1994 I was one of the high school students who were selected to participate in the Freedom Support Act (FSA FLEX) program and spent a year in the state of Georgia. The experience of being an exchange student gave additional stimulus for choosing my career path and the research interests. Since that time they were focused on the English language and education. Upon the arrival I studied at the Foreign Languages Department at the Taganrog State Pedagogical Institute (TSPI). After the graduation I have been teaching English at several departments of TSPI and working on the candidatskaya dissertation. Its theme was the history of media education in the USA. During the past three years I conducted a project supported by the FLEX ALUMNI grant, took part in several conferences as a speaker, including the one in London University (2002), dedicated to children, young people and media, contributed to Russian (Pedagogika, Art and Education) and foreign (Media i Skolen) magazines. In 2001-2003 together with other faculty members I took part in the research work on media education in Russia, supported by the grants of the Russian Foundation for Humanities and the program Russian Universities. The Fulbright project to be realized at the University of Central Florida, USA, deals with media education integrated into the teaching of English as a foreign language.
