Dmitry Goncharov

Dmitry Goncharov is a Russian political scientist. He lives and works in Orenburg. Prof. Goncharov is Chair for Political Science and Philosophy and Assistant Vice-Director for External Relations at Orenburg Institute of Moscow State Law Academy. He received his degrees (Ph.D. in Philosophy, 1992 and Dr.Sc. in Political Science, 1997) from St-Petersburg University. Prof. Goncharov is author of more than 30 scholarly publications, including two books (in Russian): Theory of Political Participation (Moscow: Yurist, 1997) and Introduction into Political Science (Moscow: Yurist, 1996). His major academic interests are Russian Politics, Democratization in the Post-Communist World (particularly, political institutional development), and Liberal Political Philosophy. He participated in a number of research projects addressing current social and political evolution in Russia. Dr. Goncharov worked as a research fellow at University of Georgia, USA (Carl Vinson Institute of Government, 1998-1999 and 2001) and at Central European University, Budapest, Hungary (Political Science Department, 2003).
