Katherine Pruess is from St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 2006 with degrees in political science and Russian. She worked for a year as an intern at the Kennan Institute, part of the part the of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., which focuses on Russia and the former Soviet Union. For 2008-2009, she is a returning ETA on the Fulbright program. Last year she taught at the Kolomna State Pedagogical Institute in Kolomna, a city in the Moscow region. This year, she is teaching at the Tyumen State University of Architectural and Civil Engineering in Tyumen, Russia. She loves cooking, traveling around Russia, and eating smoked fish that she buys from street vendors.
