Sigmund Rothschild

Sigmund Rothschild received a Ph.D. in Music Critical Studies from the University of California at San Diego, a Masters of Music in Theory and Composition from Illinois State University and Bachelor degrees in both Music Theory/Composition and Percussion Performance from the University of Arizona. As an Assistant Professor of Music Technology and Recording Arts at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center, he has explored the applications of technologies used in the creation of music.

Dr. Rothschild has produced and/or engineered over twenty five music CDs, has presented papers to the Audio Engineering Society, and is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for the Grammy Awards. His professional musical experience includes work as a percussionist with groups including the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Arizona Opera Company, Ballet Arizona/Arizona Dance Theater. He has been privileged to perform with many internationally recognized classical, popular and new music artists and has released several CDs of his own compositions.

Sigmund will lecture and conduct research/creative work in music technology at the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory. His teaching will focus on music recording and CD production. His research will explore modern Russian compositional techniques and their applications to the creation of electro-acoustic and computer music.
