I am 24 years old. I spent two first years of my life in city of Polotsk in Belarus. My family, comprised of myself, dad who had just returned from the military and mother who had just graduated university was sent by authorities to colonize Far East. We settled in a small village on Russo-Chinese border called Magdagachi. While at school I adored history. Having graduated with a silver medal and having won a regional competition in English language I was accepted to institute of international relations of Amur University. Soon I realized that program was not sufficient to satisfy my hunger for learning. I decided to apply for Freedom Support Act Undergraduate Program and in 2001 became its finalist. Program had brought me to University of Nebraska where I studied political science. After returning home I graduated from Amur State University with high honors and in 2003 entered Institute of Sustainable Development in Vladivostok University of Economics. This is a moment when I also became elected as a Managing Director of a large non-governmental organization (Model United Nations of the Russian Far East). In 2005 I finished ISD with high honors, defended master dissertation (“Impact of mining on economic growth of the Russian Far East”), met with President Bush and Secretary of State Madam Rice as a representative of one of 18 leading NGOs in whole Russia and became the finalist of Fulbright program. After returning from the program (MA in political science at New York University) I intend to become an advisor to one of vice-governor of Primorskiy region and one day, perhaps, a governor.
