I will be teaching Twentieth-Century American Poetry and perhaps other courses in poetry at Udmurt State University in Ishevsk for the fall semester of 2009. I have a sabbatical from my college, Canisius College, in Buffalo, New York, for the spring semester, and so may stay on in Russia to do some research for my sabbatical project, a comparative study of two early-twentieth century poetic movements, one American and one Russian: known as Imagism and Acmeism, respectively. I hope also to do the research for an article on American women poets and the persistence of the brief lyric poem in their work, from perhaps Emily Dickinson to the present day.
