Pamela Christian is Assistant Professor of Voice, Speech & Dialect Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Theatre and Dance, and has been the dialect coach for numerous film and theatre productions. She is also Associate Editor for International Dialects of English Archive (IDEA), where she publishes sound samples and dialect analysis for on-line access.
In Russia, she is teaching Voice, Speech and Public Communication at Udmurt State University, Izhevsk in the Department of Translation and Institute of Social Communication. She is also giving a series of topic lectures on American life through the Center for American Studies.
Pamela has previously worked as a voice/dialect instructor in South Africa, Northern Canada, Central Alaska, England and the Australian Outback. Her education includes a PhD in Speech Communication from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, MFA in Theatre from the University of Texas at Austin, and BA in English from Princeton University.
