My name is Joe Wolpin, and I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA.I recently graduated the University of Georgia, where I was a Foundation Fellow and earned B.A. degrees in history and Russian language. My previous experience in Russia includes a semester-long language program and an internship in the Political/Economic section of the U.S. Consulate-General in St. Petersburg. This year, I will be studying politics at St. Petersburg State University, with a special emphasis on St. Petersburg’s development under President Putin. I also plan to play violin in a St. Petersburg community symphony that I performed with during my semester abroad in 2001. Besides Russian and Central Asian studies, I am interested in history, law and American politics, and hope to enter governmental service following law school or graduate school.
