As year 2021 is nearing its equator, we are once again catching up on the Fulbright alumni professional achievements, both at the end of 2020 and early in 2021.

At the end of 2020, Kirill Vinnikov, alumnus of the Fulbright Science and Technology PhD Award 2010-11, Deputy Head of the Laboratory of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology of Aquatic Organisms, School of Natural Sciences, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), presented at the scientific panel joined by the Kamchatka Krai Governor titled "Ecological Situation in Kamchatka: reasearch and conclusions by the scholars of FEFU".

Two alumni of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar program took part in the XI International Conference "Mikhail Bulgakov in the course of Russian History of the XX–XXI Centuries", that was held in November 2020 online on the Mikhail Bulgakov Museum's official Youtube-channelPavel Nerler, alumnus of 1998-99, proferssor, Director of the HSE Mandelstam Centre presented his report titled "Literary Batum and Tiflis in 1920–1921"; Anna Eremeeva, alumna of 2004-05, professor, lead researcer of the southern branch of the Research Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage named after D.S. Likhachev, presented her report titled "Cities of North Caucasus during the Civil War as centers of intellectual migration".

Alexander Zvekov, выпускник программы для ученых и деятелей искусств 2013-14 гг., ведущий научный сотрудник Федерального исследовательского центра угля и углехимии СО РАН, стал одним из победителей конкурса 2021 года на право получения грантов Президента Российской Федерации для государственной поддержки молодых российских ученых – докторов наук.

Olga Kravtsova, alumna of the Visiting Scholar program 2007-08, member of the Press Complaints Collegium and leader of the OK-Journalism project, spoke about the Russian-American project Media Enabled Musketeers, which she co-organized. Participants of the projects made several dozen short documentaries about living with disability. "The goal was to help people with disability learn to make movies, as well as teach journalists to report the issues those people face in life. The next step was to create mixed teams of professional and non-professional reporters, people with and without disability, to shoot these stories which were then premiered at the festivals in Moscow and New York," said Olga. "The project turned out to be fantastic. We still keep in touch with many participants, all of them are true fighters, superstars." Georgiy Molodtsov, alumnus of the Visiting Graduate Student 2013-14, Art Director of the workshops for young filmmakers wiht disabilities, shared about his Program experience in the Т-Ж magazine.  

Yulia Beymlina, alumna of the FLTA program 2012-13, was one of the Fulbrighters that took part in online presentation of the Fulbright Program to potential participants, namely - to students of the ITMO University, along with NAtalia Smirnova, Deputy Director and Coordinator of the Visiting Graduate Program. She also hosted an online gathering of English lecturers and students of the Ryazan State University. Yulia is founder of Nail This - a training instrument to langauge learners that helps overcome the communication barrier at any level. Every week its uders receive a task buddy of the respective level and two tasks they are supposed to do together. They also watch short videos, learn phrases, get in touch with ther task buddy, discuss the task with the phrases learned, record the conversation and upload in the groupchats. Undrakh Mishigdorzhyin, alumnus of the Visiting Scholar program 2017-18, Head of the Laboratory of Physical Materials Science Institute of Physical Materials Science SB RAS, hosted a presentation "Overseas Research Grants: experience and results" as part of the collaborative information seminar between the Institute and Freie Universitat Berlin titled "Research Proposal and finding an Academic Supervisor".
